Angel Sassy

Actually it is just Daisy behind her.

Now if she would just teach her to go potty outside. We made the mistake of using a potty pad because it was so blasted cold outside when we first got Sassy (12/12/08). Well, the vet said potty pads are a no-no. Plus my husband is getting tired of cleaning up messes everyday when he goes home at lunch. Sassy has a pen (probably 4x6 in the kitchen) with a crate in it. And she always seems to track her messes all over the pen!!!

We have decided to try to get Sassy to go outside. Daisy has a doggie door that goes off the screened-in deck and Sassy knows how get go in and out of it but she just doesn't go potty outside. We've even tried moving the potty pad to the deck and she did go on it a few times over the weekend but last night nada. She waits until we go inside then goes on the pad.

Now our attempts will be to use the smaller crate and take her out every half hour until she actually goes outside. Next will be to get her to ring the bell like Daisy does. Oh, the joys of a new puppy in the winter!!

What a great picture (the angel)! Aren't Westies the best little dogs. I have a 4-year-old.

Love the 'angel' Sassy photo. Good luck on getting her trained outside. It will only get easier.

Love the pictures of Sassy and Daisy. We got a little Westie at Thanksgiving. His name is Max and he will be 4 months old the 29th of Jan. We are going through the potty training with him as well. Unfortunately, I didn't know not to use the potty pads and that's what we are trying while Max is in the house. I do walk him when there is not 17" of snow outside or the temp is not 3 degrees---to cold for me and him. I bought one of those bells, but it hasn't arrived. I'm anxious to see if he will use it. Aren't these little guys wonderful--never meets a stranger! Look forward to reading more about your two in the future.

Another blog about knitting......and crocheting too!
